COURSE DESCRIPTION
Directing I is a survey course in the art of directing plays. Units include: Composition, Script Analysis, Concept Development, Blocking, and Auditioning. In addition to lectures and exercises, each student will direct a one-act play of her/his choice under the direct supervision of the instructor. The performance of these plays will occur at the end of the semester.
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this course is to familiarize each student with the basic tenets of play direction and follow each student through the process of directing and producing a one-act play. The course should improve students’ creative skills as well as her/his organizational skills.
